(EDIT: I made a fix to the shift spells as the first thing I saw them, I only saw the Storm card. I didn't see the pictures on the other cards clearly. Blaze Lifehammer shows all the Shift spells off
here. I have edited the descriptions of the morphs to match. Sorry.)
I was freaking out recently as my computer was lagging horribly, I thought I had doomed my second computer to death like I had my old one and my parents will punish me for ruining it...
And then I discovered the cause of the slowdown - I had downloaded an updated RealPlayer(which is the only media player I use) and it updated with a cloud server. For those wondering what a cloud server is, I don't know much myself except that it TAKES UP 92% OF MY COMPUTER'S MEMORY. *shakes fist in rage* I shut it down and it fixed the problem.

Anyways, on to happier news... the test realm you guys have all been drooling over for months has finally arrived, Khrysalis, Part the Second! I have played a bit with my avatar, Chris Storycrafter, to get him through the District of Stars(but I had a bit of trouble with the three Avatars of the Brambles as nobody was interested in playing in the Grotto, I managed to solo Cuthalla with a lot of damage and jumped in on Ulgark just as someone else did the deathblow, but nobody wants to help me fight Eeglis) until the server shut down for 'minor maintenance." Yeah right, buddy, we're onto you. :p
As expected, KI did not disappoint and here are my thoughts on the new content to come. Sadly, I cannot test it out as I am "Free to Play"(game cards don't count as actual subscriptions) and the Test Realm is only open to subscribers or people who bought something from KI online, which I can't do as credit cards are evil soul-sucking corporations. (Sorry, had to say it.)
(Khrys Part 2 is three major areas but that's it. Well, Khrys Part 1 was pretty large, and these areas are probably going to have more content in each than the whole of Celestia, yikes. After all, it's the final chapter of Morganthe's terrorism, where we hopefully punish her in the name of... okay, I already did that reference in the Lost Pages quest, nvm.)
First off, as expected, the level cap is now a whopping Level 100! Yes, we've reached Pokemon Level Caps now! Of course, you all EXPECTED that, right? ^_^ The final title(if rumors are true, that means KI is not going to stop at Level 100 and may stop at Level 200, but come on, eventually they have to pull the plug and say "Okay, that's it, no more experience for you demigod wizards!") is Exalted. Dictionary.com defines 'exalted' as "raised or elevated, of high station or character." Yeah, I think KI is running out of ideas for title names, so maybe we should back off a bit. <_<
My first glimpse were the new pets. Yep, just as you guys get a Level 48 pet, a Level 58 pet, and a Level 78 school-based pet, you get even MORE school-based pets!
- Thaumaturges are going to get their very own chibi Lord of Winter! Amy is going to (bleep) hard when she see this - LoW has become her favorite boss-slayer and it looks much cuter than that stupid crud Ice Wyvern's she is STILL dragging along because of its talents. 9_9
- Pyromancers will get a chibi Sun Serpent. I like the Sun Serpent, his spell is no-freak-with-me cool, and I think it will fit my Shinto Priestess Rachel Soulpyre as a sidekick superb, and definitely for my Fire Chris, as his surname IS Sunmancer, of course. ^_^
- Diviners will get a chibi Leviathan. Great sidekick for Chris Dragonwhisper, not so much for Grace(who will die rather than abandon her 'secretary' Siren), but still cool.
- Theurgists get a Dryad. Meh, probably my least favorite of the lot.
- Conjurers get my favorite pet of the lot, a cute Super-Deformed MEDUSA! I've been hoping for a pet like this! Medusa is my favorite Myth spell!
- Finally, Necromancers get an Avenging Fossil dino. Meh, no comment. Amber will prefer a Shadow Beast.
Since school-based pets usually have a pet card of their nature(the Wraith pet gives a pet Wraith card), then I don't mind these pets - all of their spells are pretty decent even if the attacks cannot be enchanted and will help out in a pinch.
We also have something interesting... Shadowforged weapons! Yep, those cool staves are going to be made obsolete by weapons
that have may-cast talents!!!! It would be cool to have a weapon that randomly casts Balanceblade. ^_^ They are also crafteable weapons which means that... Amy's not done with the crafting quests.
Amy: ;_____;
Yep, she'll have to talk to Oztomeca again to be sent to Khrysalis's Silent Market to get her next crafting quest, but once she completes it, she'll be a Promethean Crafter and be able to create Shadowforged weapons that kick @$$. ^_^
Third up are the new spells. First of these is a new category of Moon spells. Before they were just transformations which are okay but not my style... but now there are Moon-class spells called "shift magic", which are still transforming spells, but instead of locking you into a weak form for six turns, they make you into one for a single attack and you perform that creature's attack. They are Promethean level but I think it'll make Amy a lot more than a one-trick pony. They are:
- For Fire, you shift into a Grendel shaman and do an attack similar to a buffed up Fire Elf which inflicts an accuracy debuff, which means that the poor soul is going to have a bigger chance to fizzle their next spell.
- For Ice, you turn into a Dread Paladin(a mouse man with horns) which inflicts a sort of trap on the opponent which increases damage by one of three amounts. In other words, you plant a negative ward that works like Hex or Curse! Amy will be much pleased that she can support now.
- For Storm, you turn into a hammerhead sharkwoman who steals a pip with her attack. Nice!
- For Myth, you turn into an ugly ogre that hits and shatters all blades and shields on the target. This is like a mini-Earthquake which targets, meaning you don't have to anger your entire group by destroying THEIR traps. ^_^
- For Life, you become an insect wizard and smack them, then you get a free Balanceblade! Awesomesauce!
- For Death, you become a Sugar Glider(a mouse wizard) who does damage and places a Weakness AND Infection on the foe. Two bad curses for the price of one! ^_^
- And finally, Balance gets a Thornpaw lioness straight from Zafaria who gets a free +10% pierce and +10% accuracy, like casting Precision and Dragonspear on yourself for free!
This is going to make the game much more frantic and PvP will become more challenging.
There are no new Level 98 School Spells (I think that the professors have exhausted their repertoire) but each school will get a special field spell(think Balefrost or suchnot) which, instead of increasing damage, increases piercing and critical hit rate for that school of magic. Of course, field spells give the enemies the same benefit but it's pretty nifty. You DO have to be Level 97 and do a quest but at least Chris Storycrafter will get a field spell he can use after he gets to that level. Also, I was told that the old field spells have been upgraded but I'll find that out later when the content goes live.
And finally we get new Shadow spells. Instead of making you a freak abomination, these spells summon a shadow monster to your side. Instead of backlash, these creatures hang around for four rounds and doing things that oppose their nature will make them weaker and doing things they like makes them stronger, then they attack at the end of the duration and do damage which has effects based on what their nature is. There are three kinds, but we don't know who will get them for free.
- Dark Shepherd: At the end of the duration, he'll do a life drain attack. This is great for those non-necromancers who want a life drain spell.
- Dark Fiend: Does an area attack. This is awesome. This is the wish of many schools(like Life and Death) who don't get many area attacks!
- Dark Nova: Does a single attack, but oh BABY, what an attack! It can cap at 1600 damage, which is more than most of the ultimate school spells do! Boss-slayer.
Oh yeah, Castle Tours has a new feature based on the games you can play in the houses, but that's chicken feed compared to the awesomeness we're going to get! Woooo! ^_^
Please tell me your thoughts - do you think that KingsIsle is finished with Wizard101 and 100 is the highest level we'll ever get? What do you think of the new content? Let me know!
Next time, I'll try to get a proper update. Ciao for now!
